About the Project
With recommendation from Paul Henry Architects, Countrywide Properties appointed Planning Insight to assist with securing the permission for a Hotel – whilst retaining the residential units on site. The team was also instructed to handle an appeal against a refusal on a larger scheme.
Planning permission for the extension and reconfiguration was granted for the modified scheme to address the reasons for refusal.
The appeal for the extension and partial conversion to a 35 bed hotel was allowed, with the Inspector finding that “the Council’s case was general in nature and was unsupported by any objective analysis of the appeal property and its surroundings.” An award of costs was made against the Council.
