About the Project

Following refusal of planning permission for an additional mansard to the existing building to create a new flat Planning Insight were appointed to appeal the decision by Westminster City Council.

We assessed the planning decision and took the view that the scheme was acceptable and advised the client that an appeal stood a high chance of success with a robust case.

We worked with Hamilton-Grey Heritage Services to prepare a detailed Statement of Case, the Inspector agreed that the scheme would not result in harm to St. Johns Wood Conservation or the host building that was described as a Building of Townscape Merit.

Project Highlights

  • Airspace planning permission was granted following the refusal by the LPA to deliver new housing.
  • Successfully argued in conjunction with specialist heritage advice the scheme would not result in harm to the Conservation Area or the host building.
  • New housing delivered in Central London in a constrained location.
